The Makita DHR243 SDS Plus 3-Mode Hammer Drill has an efficient brushless DC motor and a quick-change drill chuck. The easy-to-grip handle has been ergonomically designed to give maximum power thrust and a sure, comfortable grip in any operation; overhead application, drilling with palm-up or palm-down grip.

The tool body is separated into the upper and lower housings at the foot of the handle portion where the houses are jointed with vibration absorbing cushion rubbers. Unique rubber joint construction suppresses the transmission of vibration to battery terminals, minimising battery failures such as terminal breakage or poor electrical contact. There are 3 modes of operation: rotation and hammering, hammering only and rotation only.
